Thanks to your support and God’s merciful guidance, as another year comes to an end at FIVE18, we look back on a year of new hope born in so many lives. In 2025, we had the privilege of serving 4,200 children and 1,800 adults in our community with resources that brought about reconciliation and healing. 

Luna Finds New Hope in 2025

One story in particular touched our hearts in 2025. Luna’s early childhood was marked with heart-shattering struggles. Through the last few years, she navigated parental addiction, home violence, the death of her mother, and her kinship placement with her uncle Jeff, who brought her into his home when she had nowhere else to go. 

While Luna had a soft place to land, at just nine years old, her big feelings, grief, and sense of instability left her overwhelmed. In response, she showed challenging behaviors that reflected her inner struggle. After her new family attempted unsuccessfully to match her with eight different counselors, Luna was introduced to FIVE18’s Olivia Cashion, an adventure-based child counselor who helped her process her feelings, learn to manage them in healthy ways, and build trust with loving and safe adults around her. 

Jeff’s constant and nurturing support coupled with Olivia’s guidance created an environment in which Luna could shine — becoming the determined, imaginative, funny, energetic child she was made to be. Because of donors like you, Luna is finishing 2025 feeling safe, loved, and hopeful in her mended-future in the making.
