Jeff Nitz FIVE18 CEO

FIVE18’s CEO, Jeff Nitz, Envisions 2026 as a Year of Unity

July 3, 2017. That’s when the idea of Vision30 was born at FIVE18 Family Services. That day, we asked a big question: “What if every child in our community was safe in their own home? What would it take for that to happen?” That question left us grappling. It wasn’t just an idea. It was personal for all of us and would require a lot of faith to answer.

We knew we didn’t have the resources to answer this call on our own. We knew the answer would take a massive community response. We had talents and various resources but it was going to require a significant number of people saying, “I’ll get involved when a neighbor is struggling.”

In 2025, we purchased a building. This year, it is being designed for a massive community response. Our new building is in many respects our debut. It will allow us to share who we are as an organization. It is not our identity. But it is an expression of our identity.

We are FIVE18 Family Services based on 2 Corinthians 5:18. We do our work daily because of our own reconciliation with God — with Christ who pursued and initiated full reconciliation and redemption between us and the Father. This call to be reconcilers is who we are. In 2026, we are uniquely positioned and equipped to bring the community together in unity. The building will be a strong statement of our shared heart stance.

2026 is a living amplification of where we’ve been coming from as a ministry since 2017. We’ve been bringing together a collaborative, unifying forum that says, “How do we make sure kids get off to a great start?” The building is an expression of our mission. It’s a place to live out the mission.

It’s not just a place to plop down and do our work. The work is about bringing at-risk families who are struggling together, then linking them to resources in the community and other organizations that can help them. The building is ultimately about creating a space where this collaboration is supreme — tables where organizations and community leaders can sit side by side and have conversations, where ideas turn into plans, and where powerful and meaningful new relationships begin.

So, as we design and build out this space this year, we’re creating fewer offices so we can create more community spaces. This design process is going to culminate in an event called “Rooted Together.” We’ll be hosting it in our new building and it’s all about collaboration. We’ll have the author, Peter Greer, of Rooting for Rivals playing a key role in the conversations that will happen that day with community nonprofits and church leaders.

We serve a God who does the impossible and the miraculous. This means we’re allowed to — and willing to — take on a vision that most would say is impossible. I mean, it scares me! But I want to win it — because it’s that important. Our donors equip an organization through financial resources to take on an impossible God-given vision.

None of the work of FIVE18 Family Services happens apart from donors. We don’t rely on government funding. We are wholly dependent on donors to allow our many services to exist and be fruitful in serving kids and families. When you donate, you’re part of an organization that’s dreaming big dreams and living into those things. We’re on the move as an organization.

This last year, your generosity allowed a small organization to serve 4,200 children and 1,800 adults in our community — families who were struggling, families who are no longer alone. We want to thank you for your role in mending futures and fostering reconciling unity in our region by supporting us.

In 2026, there are many more families who we need to reach in our community. Kids are still coming into foster care. Every one of those situations is a tragedy. Something had to happen that was pretty bad for those kids to come into care — something that left children shattered and in desperate need of a faithful community to help put them back together.

Will you partner with us once again in 2026? Your continued support will help us turn more tragedies into mended futures for kids in our community.
