Leadership for the Future: Dr. Jeffrey Nitz Named CEO of FIVE18 Family Services

We’re excited to announce a new chapter in the story of FIVE18 Family Services.

Beginning July 1, 2025, Dr. Jeffrey Nitz will step into the role of Chief Executive Officer. Jeff has been an integral part of our leadership team since 2017, serving as Chief Operating Officer for the past eight years. He brings with him a wealth of experience in nonprofit leadership and a deep passion for strengthening families—a combination that positions him perfectly to lead our mission forward.

Jeff follows in the footsteps of Robert Day, who faithfully served as CEO for the past 15 years. Under Robert’s leadership, our organization experienced incredible growth, a renewed mission, and a firm foundation rooted in Christ-centered care. As Robert steps down, we honor his legacy and the many lives impacted through his unwavering commitment.

Reflecting on this leadership transition, Jeff shared,

“I couldn’t be more grateful to Robert Day for his example of leadership and his development of an excellent foundation and culture here at FIVE18 Family Services. I’m excited to lead a passionate and talented team of professionals and connect with so many committed donors who embrace our compelling vision: ‘Every child with a thriving family supported by a faithful community.’”

The Board of Directors shares in that excitement. Laurie Harris, Board Treasurer, affirmed the appointment, saying,

“It is with great confidence that we welcome Jeff Nitz as the new CEO. In Robert Day’s comments, he mentioned that it is time for someone else to ‘carry the mission forward’—and Jeff not only brings the right skill set but also the Christ-centered leadership that has gained the respect of both Board and staff alike.”

Before joining FIVE18, Jeff served in senior roles at Bethany Christian Services, where he provided national oversight for adoption and family services across more than 20 branches. His extensive background in child welfare and organizational development makes him uniquely equipped to build upon the momentum Robert has established.

As we enter this new season, we remain deeply grateful to our incredible community of donors, volunteers, and partners—some of whom have stood with us since our early days as Patrick Henry Family Services over 60 years ago. Your support continues to be the backbone of our mission to help families heal, grow, and thrive.

We invite you to join us in prayer and encouragement for Jeff Nitz as he begins this new role—and to continue partnering with us as we work to ensure every child is surrounded by love, stability, and faith. To learn more about our mission or get involved, visit five18.org.
